Sea Scan® Pathfinder—Collision Avoidance Sonar (CAS)

Pathfinder is a fully integrated object detection and trajectory sonar system specifically for Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (AUVs).

Pathfinder removes the need for automatic target recognition or operator monitoring to locate potential obstructions and provides location vector information directly to the host platform’s navigation processor to maneuver the AUV to avoid the collision.

Pathfinder’s small form factor, low power consumption, modular design, and integrated object detection and trajectory algorithms make it the ideal tool for protecting your underwater vehicle.

Pathfinder is designed to offer a safety coverage cone of 60° horizontally and 15° vertically with a maximum detectable range of 50m.

Pathfinder can detect an object as small as 12cm—making it the perfect sensor when using multiple small AUVs to operate in a swarm configuration or when your AUV is operating in crowded and constrained areas such as harbors and shipping lanes.
