Sea Scan® Survey 4.5.0 Released

Sea Scan Survey 4.5.0 has been released! To help better serve our customers needs we constantly work hard to improve our software to fit your needs! Please download our latest version and install it today!

Features

  • Added support for the ARC Explorer altimeter towfish accessory. This gives the software Sonar Altitude (the distance of the towfish above the sea floor).
  • Added the ability for the Advanced ARC Explorer sonar manager settings to show the version and serial number information for all of the parts of the ARC Explorer system.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a memory corruption issue when cleaning up the NMEA parsing object. It would cause a crash on exiting the application sometimes.
  • Fixed the incorrect reporting of VOUT low when failing to connect to an ARC Explorer towfish. Now it correctly states that it could not connect to the Sonar.
  • Fixed a bug in the Navigation data processing where the Swath would not be shown due to Sea Scan Survey thinking the sonar was OFF. This seemed to occur on navigation data that was sent faster than 1 Hz.
  • Fixed the compass string parser in the ARC Explorer driver. It would occasionally put a 0 for the heading/yaw.
  • Fixed the compass data parsing for the Sea Scan ARC explorer driver.
  • Fixed the setting of the altimeter range on stopping and starting the ARC Sonar driver without restarting Sea Scan Survey.

Sea Scan® Survey 4.2.0 Released

Sea Scan Survey 4.2.0 has been released! To help better serve our customers needs we constantly work hard to improve our software to fit your needs! Please download our latest version and install it today!

Features

  • Added support for the ARC Explorer pressure sensor towfish accessory. This gives the software Sonar Depth which integrates with Layback/Position calculations and other features of Sea Scan Survey.
  • Separated Sonar Depth and Water Depth.
  • Added support for 4 channel simultaneous viewing. There are now 2 waterfalls, a master and a slave. The slave waterfall can be used with normal 2 channel data as well to inspect and marker targets while the main waterfall shows current data. It also supports other neat features as well. See the manual for more information.
  • Added jump to marker option for the Slave waterfall. When this option is enabled the slave waterfall will automatically jump to any new markers made on the master waterfall. Useful for analysis of markers while collecting data.
  • Added support for 4 channel data throughout Sea Scan Survey.
  • Changed the waterfall capture to a Sea Scan Survey screen capture so that the plotter and other data display windows will show in the captures to go along with the reports.
  • Rearranged the settings pages to add the Slave Waterfall view as it has its own waterfall feature settings, image adjustments, zoom settings, etc.
  • Main window caption bar now tells the user if it fails to open a file, what file is open, and instructs the user to start a survey if needed.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Survey Report generator. It failed to generate a report properly in V3.10.0.

Features

  • Added advanced mode which can be accessed from the Applications Settings page.

  • Added support for reading the Magnetic Variation from a ZDA string.
  • Added a Test Magnetometer Communications window.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the ARC Explorer Sonar Driver that caused the SYNC packets to stop being generated and therefore create very large SDS files.
  • Fixed a bug that prevent us from reading Sonar Data from a file in excess of 2GB in size. If the file size exceeded 2GB the waterfall would stop showing data.
  • Fixed displaying of data in the Nav. Plotter view when the COG and Heading are invalid. The boat will now turn WHITE if there is no valid COG or Heading data.
  • Fixed the Range & Bearing tool to handle invalid/no COG and Heading data.
  • Fixed the Max Ping rate being set in the Sonar Capabilities for the ARC Explorer driver. This would result in the an incorrect max ping rate shown in the Sonar Control Window.

Other

  • Changed the ARC Explorer lower link detection threshold to 10mA.
  • Improved the accuracy of the ARC Explorer and Sonar Simulator Sync Packet generator.
  • Improved the internal time representation so that variations in the Real Time do not affect program operation. Real Time is now treated like any other piece of data.

New Product:
Sea Scan® ARC Explorer Towed System

Marine Sonic Technology, Ltd. is introducing the first ever side scan sonar system that uses our proprietary Adaptive CHIRP technology. The Sea Scan ARC Explorer was introduced at Underwater Intervention January 15th in New Orleans. The Explorer is the first side scan sonar system in the Sea Scan ARC generation.

Adaptive CHIRP technology provides for maximum range and minimal power consumption. In addition to the Adaptive CHIRP technology, the sonar features a port security mode for optimal target visibility on ship hulls and sea walls.

The tow fish is constructed using hard anodized billet aluminum, stainless steel, and durable polymers. It features a built in Variable Angle Tow point for ultimate imaging flexibility. Field replaceable transducers allow the user to quickly adapt the sonar to various conditions without compromising range or resolution. Up to four frequencies can be installed on the same tow fish at any time. Modular construction minimizes maintenance costs and maximizes upgrade capability.

The new system will continue to use the highly praised Sea Scan Survey software which was introduced with the Sea Scan HDS generation of side scan sonar systems and features our unmatched TRUE 24/7 customer support.
